Music Ministries South Church of the Nazarene
"O sing unto the Lord a new song; sing unto the Lord, all the earth." -Psalm 96:1
MISSON To introduce Jesus to people at their point of need through anointed music.
OPPORTUNITIES: We provide many opportunities for participating in our music program. SANCTUARY CHOIR - Our choir sings in the 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning service. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings in the sanctuary from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLES - We very much appreciate the ministry of our instrumentalists. We have several accomplished pianists, flautists, brass and woodwind players, and a violinist. They share their music each Sunday during the worship services, as well as various other programs throughout the year. DRAMA - There are many opportunities to participate in drama presentations. We use drama in our cantatas, skits for our regular Sunday services, Sunday School class parties and other functions throughout the year. SINGSPIRATIONS - Available several times throughout the year especially on the 5th Sunday evening of a month.
GOALS Our goal is to meet every person's need, providing a variety of styles such as anthems, contemporary, southern gospel, a capella, tape accompanied and piano accompanied.
SPECIAL GUESTS Opportunities are available during the year for concerts by well-known artists and groups. In the past we have had The Talley Trio, Spirit Bound, Terry and Barbi Franklin, Gary McSpadden, The Burchfield Brothers, Dave Clark, Greater Vision, Alison Durham-Speer.
WORSHIP/PRAISE TEAM We are blessed to have a long-time 10-member group called Sounds of Praise who leads us in worship during services and provides special music. They have had the opportunity to provide local concerts, holiday ministry in local nursing homes, special music for district events, and several opportunities to sing the national anthem for our local minor league baseball team, the Lansing Lugnuts.
