YOUTH PARENT MEETING
The Youth Ministry is having a Informational Potluck dinner after the Sunday
morning worship on September 12. All families with teens in the Youth Group are
encouraged to attend. We will be providing information on upcoming events
during the school year, NYC next summer, and opportunities for fundraisers. We
will also be unveiling our new leadership plans following Pastor Jordan's
departure. This is a great time to check out South's Youth Ministry!"

Are you new to South Church? Church Chat is an opportunity to meet the church
staff and others who are also new. The next Church Chat is scheduled for
Sunday, September 19th, at 12:45 in the home of Doug & Conni Artin.

CHOIR PRACTICE BEGINS
Wed., Sept. 8th, 7-8pm, Lee Ann Garza will begin holding Choir practice in the
sanctuary.
CHRISTIAN GRIEF SUPPORT
There will be another Christian Grief Support Group Series offered for people who
have lost a loved one. The series is open to those of all denominations who have
suffered a loss. The meetings will be held at the 321 House beginning on
Monday, September 27. The sessions will run from 6:30 to 8:30 PM for six weeks.

NEW LIFE GROUPS CATALOG AVAILABLE
September 12th the Fall Semester of South Church Life Groups begins.
Registration for the Life Groups is now being taken. Registration can be
accomplished in one of the following ways:
- Indicate in the Friendship Register the Life Group name or number; or
- Call the church office at 517 882-5775, or

HE CARES WE CARE
Beginning November 1, 2010, until April 30, 2011, South Church will join other
Nazarene volunteers on the zone in staffing a kiosk at Meridian Mall, leased by
the District, called "He Cares We Care". The kiosk will feature continuous play of
the "JESUS Film Project" on big screen TV's. Four training opportunities will
take place here at South Church this fall to prepare volunteers to minister
confidently and effectively:
- Sat., Sept. 18: 6-7:30 p.m.
- Sun., Sept. 19: 4-5:30 p.m.
- Sun., Oct. 17: 3-4:30 p.m.
- Sun., Oct. 24: 4-5:30 p.m.

CHAPLAIN NEEDED
MarketPlace Ministries is looking for a chaplain to lead worship services and Bible
study to staff and residents of the Bickford Assisted Living Center in Okemos.
This would be a commitment of 3-5 hours each week. If you are interested

HELP NEEDED
We have a single mother and daughter with special needs who are looking for
someone to help them get to appointments during the week. They live in the
Grand Ledge area; mileage would be reimbursable. If you are willing and able to

CHURCH PICTORIAL DIRECTORY
We are close to publishing our all church pictorial directory but we still need many
pictures. If you did not have your picture taken in the Spring when it was offered
OR if you have a picture you prefer that we use, please submit your picture to us
immediately. The church directory will NOT be available online as previously
announced. We hope to print the directory in September. The pictorial directory
will help everyone get to know each other a little better so having a current
picture of your family is very important.
BRIDGE BUILDERS “GAMES DAY”
The next Games & Lunch day is Friday, Sept. 17th, beginning at 10:00am. Pastor
Larry will be “Speaking from the Heart”. Sign-up at the Welcome Desk; cost is
$4.00 per person.

The next men’s breakfast and special time of fellowship will happen Saturday,

WOMEN OF THE OLD TESTAMENT BIBLE STUDY
Jean Johnson will begin this women’s Bible study group on Monday, Sept. 20th,
from 6:30-8:00pm, in her home. Books cost $8.00.
BASIC BIBLE STUDY
A basic study of the Bible for new or growing Christians will be held Wednesday

THE COURTNEY’S STILL NEED OUR SUPPORT
Last Sunday night, we were excited to here the story of God's call of Jason and
Karen Courtney. They will soon be leaving for the Philippines, and they are still in
need of additional support. If you would like to support them, either as a one-
time gift or on a continuing basis, you may include your contribution in your

HELP FOR PAKISTAN
Devastating floods have struck Pakistan, killing 1600 and leaving 17,000,000
people hungry, homeless, or sick. With hundreds of Nazarene churches in
Pakistan, our brothers and sisters immediately responded with all they had
available. Please pray for the homeless, sick, and hungry. Please also pray for
those ministering during this difficult time. Financial support is needed for the
purchase of food, shelter, clean water, and medical care. If you would like to

LABOR DAY WEEKEND
Sunday Morning: regular schedule
Sunday Evening: 6:00p.m at Lansing First Church of the Nazarene, 310 Elmwood
Dr., the Embry Gospel Singers will be in concert. There will be a time of fellowship
following the concert in the Fellowship Hall. Bring a bag of cookies, a dessert, or
an ice cream topping to share; the ice cream and beverage is provided.

Rd., Holt, for rehabilitation services.
Family of Alice “Marie” Krauss, a long-time member of South Church, died
Thursday, Sept. 2nd. Funeral service will be here on Wednesday at 12pm with a
dinner following. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 11am-12pm.
Tom Hruska had out-patient knee surgery last Friday morning that ended up
being more extensive than anticipated. He is doing well but will need to wear
the stabilizer longer than expected.
Please note that the continuing prayer list is available in the magazine rack on the
east wall of the narthex.
There is a prayer box on the table (by the wall magazine rack) in which you may
place prayer requests or praises.
